Back to the Basics

http://money.cnn.com/2015/04/07/smallbusiness/evaptainer-cooler/index.html?iid=ob_homepage_tech_pool&iid=obnetwork

Sometimes the simplest things, such as evaporation, can be the best. Quang Truong has designed and created a refrigerator that is durable enough for poorer farmers and does not rely on electricity. By using aluminum plates and a special cloth thst is kept wet, this device can help to keep produse fresh for longer periods of time. Rotting produce is a large problem in countries such as Morocco where a large portionof produce rots before arriving to the consumer. These sun and water powered refridgerators would help part of this problem due to the fact that it does not require unreliable electricity like conventionsl refridgerstors.
This is a great recreation and improvement upon zeer pots which are much bulkier, have less storage and much more easily broken due to being made from terra cotta. These are an amazing solution to a large problem in places like Africa and the Middle East where refigeration might be rare or hard to come by. Hopefully this device will increase in popularity so that it may be used more widely to help farmers with the same problem.

Is this star wars? or a real solution?

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/16/africa/kenya-northern-white-rhino/

Such an impressive species, one magnificent in size and strength. Sadly because of poaching we have caused this wonderful species, northern white rhino, to become almost extinct.  The species has only one last male who is 42 years old and is named Sudan.  Being elderly for a rhinoceros, many are not sure of his ability to mount and conceive with another rhinoceros especially due to his low sperm count and his partner female, 25 year old Najin, is doubted to have the hind leg strength to support him even if he could mount her. Do not fear despite these dire circumstances, there is still hope. Scientist have recently been looking into artificial insemination and things of such nature.  This approach would not rely on Sudan's physical aptitude for continuing his species but rather allow us to possibly continue this species even after he is gone.
A friend of mine asked me why they wouldn't just clone the male, yes it would be extremely expensive, but it would be quite possible seeing as they have already done this to other animals. This rendered me speechless because that is exactly what we need, people to think outside of the box. Thinking like that could help us to not only save species from extinction but also to further our own species and possibly overcome our nasty habit of killing off subservant species.

What would you do?

Not considered suicide

http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/26/europe/france-germanwings-plane-crash-main/

Flying. Something no human can do on its own but with technology can now soar through the skies like many dreamers once wished they could. That is, until it turns deadly such as is the case with Germanwings flight 9525 which crashed in the alps last month. First considered a terrible accident and tragedy it is now being considered a suicide/mass homicide due to the plane's transponder showing data that the copilot reprogrammed the autopilot to crash. Those who knew the copilot, Andreas Lubitz, say that it is completely unexpected due to his complete act of normalcy.

We cannot forget the fact that one of the gunmen at the Bardo museum in Tunisia had even just had coffee with his family the morning of the attack. Sometimes those we would never expect to do anything are actually the culprits. In the end nothing can be changed about flight 9525, those 150 people are already gone, but the flight club Lubitz was employed at is now looking into checking the psychological wellness of its employees after rather than just during the acceptance testing.

We must hope this causes a domino effect of flight clubs and airlines to check on their pilots and copilots so that maybe next time this tragedy can be averted before it comes into action.
